hyperlink to a .docx

when I create a hyperlink to a .docx file, the page returns page cannot be
found.

The path is correct, the file exists, but I still get a page cannot be found.

When i link to a .doc file, it works fine. Any Ideas???

Is the server set to server docx files? Being a newer extension, many
servers do not have this set up

Check with your host and make sure that .docx is added to the mime types on the server.

One way around this problem is to make sure that file is backward compatible
with earlier versions of MS Word, as not all users would have Office 2007.
Save the file as *.doc and link to that. It will guarantee that all users
can then open the file, with Word versions 97-2003.

Along with the other points (about MIME Types etc) the other members have
pointed out already.
