Hyperlink Problem

Hi

I run Win200 with Excel 2000. I have a spreadsheet that is protected. Some
of the cells are not locked so that information can be entered into them.
When I copy a hyperlink from an external program and paste it into the
unprotected cell it works fine. The problem I have is that if I decide to
delete this hyperlink then I get an error message telling me that the cell is
protected and that I have to remove the protection to allow me to delete the
cell.

If I remove the protection the hyperlink can be deleted. Can anyone tell me
why the pasted hyperlink becomes "protected" when I paste it into an
unprotected cell?

Is the any way that this problem can be overcome?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

John

Any time you paste information from an outside source it sets the format
of the cells to default which is protected. You would have to "paste
special" as text for example to retain the cell formatting.

Hope it helps.
