Hyperlink behaviour when emailing sheet

When I email a sheet using Excel 2000 it corrupts the hyperlink.

What I mean is that when I open the sheet in the email I click on the
hyperlink and it doesn't work. The link is to another worksheet on the same
network drive. When I input the link originally I put in the full UNC path,
e.g. \\server\share\folder, but when I later examine this link it's changed
to \..\..\folder
 
I'm not sure if this will work...

Tools|options|General|Web Options button|Files tab|Uncheck update links on save
