Hyper-threaded XP crashes while writing to DVD-RW

I have a Windows XP professional system with hyper-
threading enabled and a Sony DRU-500A DVD-/+RW player. If
hyper-threading is enabled and I write to the DVD-RW
player using DLA software then the system crashes. If I
disable hyper-threading then everything works fine. Does
anyone know of a fix so that I can use hyper-threading?

Thanks,

Ed

This isn't really an answer to your question, but...

DLA seems to have been sold by Veritas to Sonic Solutions (www.sonic.com).
If Sonic offers any updates or patches to it, they're not obvious.

I wonder whether a newer version (obtainable only as part of a package, with
other recording software) would be an improvement?

The packet-writing software that comes with Roxio's Easy CD Creator seems
relatively good. I'm using it now on my P4 system with HT. (But not on a
Sony drive. My new Plextor PX-708a seems a bit temperamental, but it came
with firmware rev 1.0, which I've since updated to the latest - 1.01!)

InCD (www.nero.com) worked OK with my former Lite-On CD-RW drive, but not
with the new Plextor. (I tried both InCD 3.x and 4.x, matched to Nero 5.5.x
and 6.0.x , respectively.)

Good luck.
