Huge temp files? scw1437.tmp

What are these files in Local Settings \ Temp ?
-rwx------+ 1 rhh None 704238883 Oct 29 10:47 scw1437.tmp
-rwx------+ 1 rhh None 2387176 Aug 23 17:03 scw1EF.tmp
-rwx------+ 1 rhh None 2460068 Sep 12 18:38 scw43.tmp

If they're actually temp and unused, I'd like to delete them. They've been
there a while.

(listed with cygwin, but in windows XP area)

There should be nothing in the temp folder that is needed unless you put it
there (lots of folks direct their downloads to their temp folder, I have no
idea why). Anything that is "in use" will toss up a "cannot delete"
message.

About the only caution I would make is to delete these things after a
restart. If anything has an update pending, files in use are replaced on
the restart. Deleting right after a restart, insures the updates for those
files have taken place. Another way to "play it safe" is to delete
everything in the folder except those things that have today's date.
