HTTP:// Prefix issues

D

David Gibbons

hello all.

I have a user over here that is having issues with her system and browsing
websites. If she just enters the URL (www.google.com) IE will stall and
hang/crash. If she enters the complete URL (http://www.google.com)
everything is peachy. I have reviewed the registry of this system for the
default prefix settings and cannot find anything wrong. I have also used
Windows Defender to check for spyware/adware... Still nothing.

Looks to this group for a few ideas on fixing this issue.

Thanks
David Gibbons

Hi David,

Is this problem seen after applying a recent update from Microsoft? See:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security
update MS06-015:

Hi David ,

I agree with Ramesh that this issue can be caused by MS06-015 because we
have happened similar issue recently. Please refer to following article :

You may experience problems in Windows Explorer or in the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

If the problem still occurs, or you didn't apply MS06-015, please let me
know.
