HTTP Error 403 on local machine

C. M. G.

win xp pro, fp03

I am logged on as an administrator, but when I try to open a web on my local
machine, I get the

HTTP Error 403 You are not authorized to view this page

message. The same web is readily accessible on my remote server.

This is a new problem, but I have not made any changes to my system (that I
can remember). How can I regain access to my local webs?

Thank you,

Clem.

Open Internet Information Services on your PC (Start, Settings, Control
Panel, Administrative Tools), expand the list of web sites, right click on
your site and choose properties. Make sure, under Directory Security, that
anonymous access is checked and the other boxes aren't.
