Hi,

This may be the wrong forum to ask this is but here goes.

I'm looking for any info on the ability to copy HTML marked up text into
Word and have it format the text according to the markup. Is there any out of
the box method for doing this or am i going to have to write something to
parse the text etc...

Thanks in advance

G

Hi G.,

Word had that ability through Word 97, where you could paste in HTML coding and it would 'melt' into the document with matching
formatting.
Word 2000 and higher can, however, open HTML files directly and, in many cases, use the coding to create the Word document.

I'm using 2007 and have tried opening an HTML file which just opens with the
tags in plain text. There is no formatting. Is this what should be happening
or should i be getting formatted output?

Thanks for the quick response.

Hi GS80,

In the Word Options
Office Files Button=>Word Options=>Advanced
scroll to the bottom to 'General' and turn on
'Confirm file format conversion on open'

When you then open the HTML file do you have 'HTML' on the list of choices and does that change the behavior using that choice?
