htm vs html

Green Valley

Hi,
Newbie here.
I am trying to save a .jpg file on to my web page.
I have saved several before this file. The previous pages are all coming in
as htm files.
For some reason now the files are getting saved as html files.
The htm files are coming through just fine but the html files do not work.
What am I doing wrong?
here is a page that came through just fine...

http://www.masterpiecedistributors.com/80_jaen_wenge_mirror.htm

I have not one clue how to do this.
please advise.
thanks,
gv

You need to save your image to your desktop or a folder on your desktop from
your image application, then you need to open your web in FP, then import
the image into the current open web, then insert the image on to your page.

Also remove all spaces from folders and file names.

Thomas,
Are you saying that all websites that displays a jpg or gif file that, (i.e.
is a person's name) should not have a space in it. Why is this. If this is
so, why doesn't FP warn you or automatically under score everything.

I have tons of pictures and "people names" in my (unpublished) web.
Do I need to rename all of these too?

Correct, as it is invalid HTML, and some browsers will not be able to link
to it. Users of IE browsers will not have a problem, as it will
automatically replace the space with a %20, however it best to get into the
habit of not using spaces, since if you ever move to using a database, have
spaces with cause coding issues/extra work.

These are just things that you just have to learn over time.

Not a problem.
I program in VC++ too. I will simply adopt the same policy that I use when
creating a variable name. I will use lower case / upper case to distinguish
multiply names. I prefer that over the Underscore.

Thanks.

upper/lower case can cause problems on Unix servers. I'd use one or the other,
else make sure the names are an exact case-match.
