htm signature files - styles not working

A

Al Martino

I'm using a text editor to compose some simple styled sigs with an inline
logo. When I go to insert the sig, I can preview it and it looks fine.
However when I actually insert the sig, the styles are gone. If I View
Source of the resultant email the Styles section of the code is not there,
whereas if I look at the code in a text editor it clearly is there.

What am I doing wrong? Using MS Office 2000.
Thanks Fred.

Signatures don't work that way. It only inserts the chunck of HTML code that
makes up the signature; no header info.

Thanks Robert,

Sort of understand - you are saying that only the html in a sig is only
contained within the body. In which case, I've seen plenty of sigs with
styles (I'm certainly no html guru - NOVICE!!) do you chuck the styles
within the body? I've been searching for info on this for weeks.

ALSO - if my logo is hosted externally and I use an external link, does
Outlook 2000 convert that link to an inline CID on the fly so that the email
does not have to refer to an external link? This is another area I can find
no info on.

Cheers
Fred.

The styles in that case might have been defined inline, not in a <style> section. Or they might have been in the <style> section for the whole message.

An external link to what?
