HP Scanjet 2100c scanner not recognised by windows 2000

Can anyone help please?
When running win98 on my computer my scanner HP Scanjet 2100c was working
perfectly. After installing win2000 on same computer it is not recognised.
I have been told that win2000 does not support this model and sure enough it
is not in the hcl file of hardware supported on the win2000 CD.
hp website does not offer 2000 drivers for the scanner. The scanner is USB
connected so is not really old technology so I am quite surprised this
problem exists.
Can anyone suggest a solution apart from sell the old and buy new???
thank you
Kevin

I don't know how different your scanner is from mine, but I have a HP2200c
working fine under Windows 2000SP4. Look on HP site for the latest drivers.

Yes, it's easy to make an older scanner or printer work with drivers
made for a later model of the same hardware.
