Hi all,

Right i have a little situation and would be very greatful for some
pointers.

I purchased a HP Pavillion DV9000 laptop and it works a dream. It came
stocked with XP MCE and i decided to use a beta release of Vista to give it
a try.

To give it a fair test i installed Vista on a fresh install as the only OS.

I now want to go back to XP for various reasons. . . i.e. the beta is
running out, but i have no XP disk and no way of accessing the recovery
partition.

Is there a way of connecting the recovery partition that i am unaware of? or
any other way to retrieve my copy of XP from this partition as i was not
given a disk?

Many thanks for your help and time.

Ben

I should add that i have tried right clicking on the partition and selecting
explore as stated on the HP website, however this did not work for me.

I don't understand what you mean by "connecting the recovery partition".
Normally to restore an HP computer to factory condition you press F11
(or F10 on some models) as the computer is starting. Refer to either
your computer manual or HP's website for your specific model machine.
This will begin the HP restore process. Of course, if you removed or
otherwise damaged the recovery partition this won't work.

Your HP laptop came with a utility to create physical recovery disks. If
you didn't make those disks, then you need to contact HP and purchase
replacement disks. This will not be very expensive.

Ahh right... will have to buy some disks then.

I had tried F11 and F10 as i remember one of these working before... no
change has been made to the partition, i just have no way of accessing it

thanks for your input

If all else fails, you can obtain a set of CDs from HP by going to their
support site at www.hp.com. Just lookup your exact model #, and you can
order a set of "restore" CDs.

If I recall, they're about $15.00.
