HP LaserJet 1320 installed software problem

I like HP printers, my LaserJet 5 served me well for ten years, but it
hit the recycle bin last month. I picked up a HP LaserJet 1320 last
weekend. It's ten times better than the old printer and a quarter of
the cost.

Problem:

The Toolbox/Install software is just too invasive it is always
running, reports your installed software to HP which they keep for 5
years, and monitors the other computers on the network that share the
printer. If a workgroup computer is not online, "The Event Viewer"
reports a Systems error because it can't read the workstation.

I'm running MS XP Pro. How do I remove the HP software? Will
Microsoft's XP's plug and play run the printer? I'm concerned because
this is the first printer I've had that can print on both sides of the
paper. I don't want to uninstall the software and lose the printer
functions.

Thanks for any advice.

Problem solved I uninstalled all the HP software and used Wizard to
install the printer using the HP drivers.
