HP Laserjet 1010 not selectable in chooser

I'm trying to print on a new HP Laserjet 1010 from two different
computers, both using Mac OS 9.2, and attached to the HP through a
switch box. An ibook finds the HP in the chooser and loads the proper
driver. On an iMac I can see the HP in the chooser but it won't load
the driver. I tested things on a different and identical imac--I
installed the drivers and immediately could find and select the proper
printer from the chooser. Any ideas on why I'm not able to select the
HP from the iMac?

i have an imac 233 and i can't install hplaser1010 also
