HP dx5150 won't maintain Standby or Hibernate

I have an HP dx5150 which has the HP XP factory installation on it.
Everything works fine except that if I select Standby or Hibernate from the
shutdown menu, the machine goes into Standby or Hibernate ok, I can see and
hear it power down, but then it powers itself back up a couple of seconds
later. The only way to power it off and have it stay off is to do a complete
shutdown. Any suggestions on how to fix this? The OS is XP Pro SP2 with all
current patches.

Is the PC connected to a network, and might the BIOS be set for resume on
network activity?
