This formum is for Microsoft Windows XP and not an Hewlett-Packard help site.

Try HP and see what's listed in their FAQ [frequently asked questions]: I'm
sure this is a problem for many folks and HP will be all to willing to assist
their good customers.

I tried HP FAQ FIRST> I am running windows xp. Any probs I have been having
hav only been happening since XP service pack 2. Does that not give me reason
to try here for help. I have solved the problem in the end and will keep the
info to myself as I now feel like I am not welcome here. Thank You

FWIW, I had problems w/ Director after SP2 too. The problem is that SP2
"fixes" all the shortcuts in the startup folder, presumably in the hope of
killing any spyware that may be in there. Anyway, the Director startup
shortcut uses a very long, cryptic, parameter that ID's the printer's usb
port, and the SP2 upgrade strips off all shortcut parameters, so that
startup item stopped working correctly. The fix was to completely
reinstall the HP driver set.

Thank you for trying to help after a few hours waste of time all I ended up
doing was rebooting and it corrected its self. I did this before recieving
your advice but thank you anyhow. Now latley I hav been having fun working
out norton problems most of them resolved now but something just does not
feel right. Can you tell me if you block a high risk is there a way of
reversing it? I am not impressed with the sp2 and wonder weather just to
remove it altogether and forget about it. you spend good money purchasing
security and then have to spend hours getting it to run properly.
