I have ten HP DeskJet 692C printers that make a loud clanking noise when
they print. They seem to print fine but the noise is annoying to the end
user. I have looked inside and cannot determine where the noise is coming
from. Are these repairable or should I throw them away?

Thanks

Where are you? I'll take them all off your hands. Oh bugger, you're
way over there ....

Seriously, this is usually a symptom of a dirty encoder strip.
Cleaning is simple enough, as long as you clean in the correct
direction so as not to stretch the tensioning spring. There are
instructions on the HP site, but I don't have the URL to hand.
