HP D145: W XP PRO & Scanning to Wordpad?

J

Johann Backer

For some reason, EACH time I use ANY program----- Windows must install
it. Takes 2 to 3 seconds each time.

Windows does not recognize the HP Command: "scan to Wordpad'. If I
install/open Wordpad, then do the 'scan to Wordpad'; the open program is
not found. The same occurs with "HP Photoview" and "IRIS".

All I receive, when I right click on the Icon in the tray is: "display
staus" and "close". NO other options.

Your registry is hosed... However, this is a Windows issue, not a
printer issue.
you'll need to reload windows to fix.

NOT necessary to reinstall WindowsXP. Scan for missing or corrupt
system files. Go here: Start>Run>type SFC /SCANNOW (space between
C and /) and press OK. SFC=System File Check, it checks for missing or
corrupt system files and replaces them. Have your XP CD handy for it may
ask for it. If that does not solve the situation, you can try a System
Repair.

BTW: If everything was working alright before, have you tried a System
Restore? You can back up to 90 days.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

Thanks.

Question: do I need both SP1 and SP2 for the SlipStream? I have a feeling
that I'm going to get: "you do not have SP1 available/installed. You
cannot continue with SP2. Please install (or have available) SP1 first,
then retry."???

There is also the USB 2.0 Port situation with SP2. I would want that
correction, SlipStreamed, also.

You do not need SP1 and SP2 for SP2 incorporates SP1. You can
slipstream your WindowsXP CD with just the SP2 disk for a reinstall.
But, like I stated in my previous answer, try to solve the problems
before doing a drastic reinstall of XP.
