hp and dell compatable???

I have the chance buy a Dell Lattitude Professional laptop, it has Win. XP,
office 2003

I have a HP 553x pavilion, windows XP.

I have a small Ebay business and have lot's of Picture's and many documents
in Word Perfect . would like to have a back up computer. I just need the
tower.

Can I transfer these from the HP to the Dell laptop?

PS: Keep in mind that the XP disk you get with the Dell will not work on the
HP hardware. Each machine should have its own way to restore the operating

Word will be able to open Wordperfect 5.x or 6.x files. There may be a
chance that Word will not be able to open your WP files if you version
is later than 6.x, or if it can, they might not be formatted correctly.
I recommend installing Word Perfect on the Dell so it will be seamless
if you need to transition between the two machines.
