HP 4100n prints very, very pale

Morning.

My HP Laserjet 4100n suddenly prints very, very pale, it's rather
nothing to see on the paper. The toner cartridge is appr. half full. A
week ago the printer has printed very well. Now five days without
printing occures this misbehaviour. I've changed the toner cartridge but
the printouts remains to be very, very pale.

What can I do to fix the problem?

It's a network printer. All printjobs are affected by this failure
irrespective of the originating computer.

TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

Go to the Print Quality Menu on the printer control panel and check the
settings. In particular make sure that ECONOMODE=OFF and Print Density = 3.

Density was been set to 5, I've changed it to 3.
If yo print a configuration page from the panel it will tell you what these
settings are.

It didn't, because now it has »printed« pages with not a crumb of toner,
just blank pages. When densitiy is set to 5 so I could at least divine
the printed items.
If they are all normal please report back.

Nothing is normal, but I'ld like to report it anyway.

TIA and kind regards, Friedrich
