HP 3300c scanner

anybody get a HP 3300c scanner to work with XP pro OEM SP1???
I am having a dickens of a time

Hi!

I have followed many different installation guides from hp, serveral of them
multiple times.
I'm currently going through HP email support.
I scanned many forums and read many posts from people giving up in
frustration.
They also went for help through HP
I was hoping to hear from people who succeeded
maybe they had a different approach.

The only error message I get is from the
found new hardware wizard:
there was a problem installing this hardware:
hewlett packard scanjet 3300c
an error occurred durring the installation of the device
the required section was not found in the inf

Hello Stephan
I used a 3300C for a while with Pro.
All I did was go to HP's website and downloaded the driver and saved it to a
new folder on C drive and then closed everything that was open and then went
and installed it and it worked perfectly.

If you are having the trouble that I did, I found that the built in service in
XP for scanners, etc. was interfering with the HP driver.

Basically, I gather that there are TWAIN (older) and WIA (Microsoft) drivers.
Many scanners, etc. have both, or work with both, but it appears that
sometimes one conflicts with the other.

I found that stopping the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service and setting
the startup setting to disabled did the trick for me. If you need this
service for some other device (webcam?), you may not be able to do this.
