HowTo: Automatic configuration of Outlook 2002 when using roaming profiles?

Dear subscribers.

I'm currently managing a Windows network which utilizes roaming profiles to
allow each user to log in to any available workstation. This works very
well, the users have access to their documents and settings no matter which
computer they log on to apart from one thing. The Outlook configuration isn'
t roamed, i.e. Outlook has to be configured for every user on every
workstation manually. My question is, is it possible to have Outlook
automatically configured when a user logs on to a workstation? The users are
using Outlook as an ordinary POP/SMTP client, i.e. Exchange Server isn't
used.

The server OS is W2K Server and the clients are WXPP.

Kind regards, Ola Theander

Yes, you can set up roaming profiles for Outlook, even for POP, assuming that you have a naming convention for mail accounts that matches the user logins. The tools are in the Office Resource Kit. See http://www.slipstick.com/exs/olroam.htm
