In switching to Outlook - I transferred my entire email "Address Book" from
Outlook Express to "Contacts" in Outlook. However, I can't get the email
addresses (from Outlook Express)transferred into the "Address Book" of
Outlook.

Therefore, when I start typing in an addressee name for an outgoing email -
it's not recognizing the name / email address from my "Contacts".

The Contacts folder in Outlook is what Outlook ueses as an address book, but
you must enable it. Right-click the Contacts folder, choose Properties,
click the Outlook Address Book tab and check the "Show this folder as an
E-mail Address book" box.

It won't. You have to resolve the name in order for Outlook to validate it
with your Contacts folder. CTRL-K or Tools>Check Names.

Thanks so much for your response - but it still is not working. Could you pls
clarify the second part of your response -- i.e. resolving the name and
getting Outlook to validate the name. I clicked on Tools then Check Name -
but when I start typing the addressee name for a new email (outgoing) message
-- it still does not recognize the name. Thank You!

Enter the first few characters of the address into the To field, then click
Tools>Check Name or press CTRL-K. Outlook should then resolve the portion
of the name you've typed against your Contacts folder and either fill in the
name completely (if the portion you typed matches a single contact) or give
you a list of contacts from which to choose (if the portion you typed
matches more than one contact).

Many Thanks Brian! I appreciate it. That worked perfectly. Hopefully one
final question -- When I receive a new email from a new sender (i.e. not
already in my Contacts list) how do I add them to my Contact / Email list?
Thanks.

Open the message, right-click on the From line and choose "Add to Contacts".
