How2 set up dual/load balancing ISPs

T

Tom C.

I've got a home office business client who simply cannot be without an
Internet connection. He's currently a cable customer and I am suggesting he
add DSL from the local RBOC as a backup. I'd like to set it up so that when
both ISPs are online, his home LAN is using bandwidth from both services,
and when one goes down, the LAN still has the bandwidth from the one service
that is up.

The first thing that came to mind was a dual NIC install in his computer,
but I think that would only provide a solution for the one computer, not for
the whole LAN. Can anyone help me with this, or maybe point me to a primer
about how I should set this up? Thanks! -- tom c
