How will Vista run?

Hi,
i'm planning to use VIsta Business (from MSDN AA) on my laptop. The spec
is: Turion 2 GHz/1MB cache, 1024 MB RAM, GeForce Go 7300/256 MB, 80 GB.
This is A6KM laptop, bought a few months ago. How do you think, could I
run Vista and work on it like on XP? I read, that Vista will eat a
hundreds MB of RAM and need a fast dual core CPU, but i don't have any
cash to upgrade my machine. I need PC to Internet, some DivX movies,
music, writing etc. - will be my config enough to do this without
annoying lags? i'm grateful for any suggestions.

lots of people report success with 1gb others say you need 2gb to make vista happy.
personally I run with 1gb and have no problems.
not sure what movie player you use, but VLC is fairly small footprint and works great plays all kinds of files music and videos.

Thanks for fast reply. i'm using VLC on my actually XP Pro and find it
useful. But i'm also testing KMP, which is based on mplayer with nice GUI.

You don't need Dual Core for Vista. Vista does a much better job of memory
management, finding a use for the RAM so the amount of free RAM is much less
in Vista, but that not a problem. Memory is dynamically allocated.

That said I am running Vista Ultimate on a 5 yr old P4 2.53GHz system with
1GB PC800 RAM. It's set up as a dual boot with XP, but I rarely boot into
XP these days, only to update it monthly. Vista runs just as well. I also
use a 2GB flash drive set up for ready boost. This does speed up
application loading. How much effect ReadyBoost will have depends on the
amount of RAM. Up to about 1GB it helps. Beyond the effect is less
noticeable.
