How to wipe Hard drive...

Hi...

I was wondering what the easest way is to completely erase my hard drive,
and reinstall windows... I can not run the osuninst.exe file in system32
because the regestry for it was deleted, i have a reinstallation disk, that
came with my comp, but not the ticket of authnication...

It has to be very simple, because i got an incredibly annoying virus like
thing, and it totaly wiped out the registry for pretty much everything...

I have backup disks of what i need to keep, so yeah...

Also, because i changed the boot screen, the kernel core thing is not a
Microsoft kernl... (I tryed to install sp2 to see if it would help anything,
but it couldnt install because of this)

Any help would be greatly appreacted

install disk, it asks for a number, to make sure it isnt
pirated or anything, but i lost that a long time ago...

The number should be on a Certificate of Authenticity sticker on the desktop
somewhere. It's got 25 digits in blocks of 5, unless you purchased the disk.
If you registered it with Microsoft, there should be a record and they may
give you a new activation code. I would try to give them a call to see if you
are registered.

Google a program called rockxp key finder or you can find similar programs
at www.Majorgeeks.com it will beable to tell you your key code

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

The Windows 25-character Product Key (required to perform the
installation) is stored on the CD packaging on a bright orange sticker
that says "Do not lose this number." It is not on the installation CD
in any way, shape, or form. If it was an OEM (factory installed)
license, it's stored on a label that the PC manufacturer affixed to
the exterior of the PC case, or on the bottom of a laptop.

To recover a lost Product Key:

If your system still runs, you should be able to use Belarc
Advisor from http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html to find the
Product Key. (If you have a factory-installed OEM license, and
haven't since reinstalled the OS, the revealed Product Key is probably
of the drive image used at the factory and not your specific Product
Key; therefore, it probably cannot be -- and definitely should not
be -- used for a re-installation.)

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer; although very few manufacturers/vendors keep records of
the Product Keys they've sold, it's worth a try before you have to buy
a new license.
