Confused

My question is just like its subject line. How do you go
about wipping the hard drive of an xp computer. I have
already tried to do it by deleting the partition when
intstalling a fresh copy of xp. it wouldnt let me do that
because it said that there were file necesary to the setup
left in that partition. Is there any other way that i can
go about deleting the partition or otherwise wiping the
hard drive.

Boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter for password,at cmd screen type:DiskPar
in DiskPart,all drives are shown,highlite the drive,delete,youre done.Then yo
could create a new partition,then esc Back in cmd type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntf
C: can be any hd,WD drives have a download,(for DOS) that zero
out the drive completely, other mfg might have similiar.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
