how to use macros with powerpoint viewer 2003

I created a show in PP 2003 which includes essential macros. I now need to
package the presentation for a CD. PowerPoint Viewer 2003 does not seem to
open macros Is there a way to get around this?

Thanks!

Macros are not supported in PowerPoint Viewer 2003. When doing your
presentation on other PCs with PowerPoint, open PowerPoint first, then open
your ppt file. Unless the computer that you will be using to do your
presentation has PowerPoint 2000 and below or does not have PowerPoint, it
should works fine.

You can also disable new features so that your presentation can run in
PowerPoint 2000 and below. To do so, go to Tools > Options > Edit.
Uncheck the three checkboxes under Disable new features.

The viewer doesn't support VBA/macros.

The only way around it is to use PowerPoint itself rather than the viewer to
display the show.

Sorry ...

Thanks, Steve. I am being asked to create some interactions in my PP
presentation, such as mulitple choice quiz with instant feedback. The
presentation does need to be packaged on a CD for distribution, however. Any
suggestion for how to do this?
I really thought the macros were my answer : (

If you only need to show the user, whether their answer was right, you could
use trigger animations. With a mouse click on the answer of choice, a text
box will pop up saying "Right" or "Wrong", and/or there will be a Beep or
Applause sound.

But if you need counting of right answers and so on, macros will be the only
solution.

Best regards,
Ute

I'm not Steve, but I have some answers for you :)
Instead of using macros, you need to set up triggered animations and
hyperlinks to show the right vs. wrong feedback. This won't allow you to
keep score, but it will allow you to add the interactivity that is being
requested.

To use triggers, to add the interactivity:
Add two boxes to each slide - one that says "Right" the other that says
"Wrong". Add one appear animation for the right answer and as one appear
animation for the wrong answer for each wrong answer. (in other words, 1 and
if true false, or 1 and 4 if 5 option multiple choice). Now, add a box to
each answer. You can either make this box visible and to one side of the
answers or invisible and right on top of the answers. Final step, select the
animations and have them triggered by the box for the appropriate answer.
(Believe me- this sounds much more complicated than it is.) If you are going
to provide more than one chance at the answer, add an exit animation to the
wrong box and have it triggered by the click of the wrong box. Clicking the
right box should take you to the next slide.

To use Hyperlinks, you are going to set up two new slides (right and wrong)
and make each slide a custom show. Link the text for each answer to the
correct custom show. Be sure to check the "Show and return" box when you
hyperlink so that you don't lose your lace in the presentation.

When to use one or the other: I use the hyperlink method if I am going to
have lots of slides that just need a generic right or wrong response. I use
the triggers when I need to provide more than just the normal words for the
right and wrong. I also use the triggers if the provided answer determines
which slide comes up next.
