how to use gpedit to modify a profile of just one user?

Hello!
Is there a way to use the group policy editor (gpedit) to configure profile of just one user (computer is running within a workgroup). the problem is: everytime i'm trying to use the editor (though it's only the user configuration that is being modified) the changes are applied to whatever users hwo logs afterwords onto that machine.

Create a new group and put the target user into it. Then create the
Group Policy for just that group.

What exactly did you mean when you said "new group"? Did you mean an AD group ? In my post I especially mentioned the computer i'm talking about is member of workgroup not domain.

You can create user groups in XP Pro without it being a member of a domain.
