How to use &edit from file types

Hi all,

I have HP Image Editor and would like to make this the default editor from
within My Pictures. I went to Folder Options > File Types > jpg > advanced
edit, and browsed to find the application. DDE is checked, and the
application does launch, but then I get a message "Access to c:\documents
was denied" from the HP Image Editor. I am using XP Home Edition.

Please let me know if there is something else I should be doing.

Thanks!

An easier way to do it would be to right click the the file type you want to
associate it with, select "open with", browse to the .exe for HP app, and
check the box to make this permanent. Click ok or apply.

I like the features in the Windows viewer, especially the slide show, so I'd
like to open with that. I was using LView, and that would open the file for
editing just fine, but the HP Editor doesn't seem to work like this.
Suggestions??

Thanks!

I've got (and often use IV), but I would really like to know how to set the
edit application. Any ideas?

Hi Jeff,

Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Select an image
type (jpg). Click on Advanced then New. Name for Action type in: &Edit.
Under Application used to perform action: Browse to the
application/software. Set it as default. Ok your way out.

Hey Kelly, that is exactly what I did, and this works for LView and
IrfanView, but I get an access denied error when the HP Editor starts. Any
idea why? Thanks!
