How to update locked linked in presentation?

Steve

I once thought I was pretty good with powerpoint but the more I use it
I realize I have alot to learn. I have a new problem with a
presentation that I hope someone can help me with.

I have linked a presentation to a second presentation by inserting the
first presentation as an object.

Presentation 1 - Working Copy of the presentation
Presentation 2 - Contains link to presentation 1 (linked Object)

The reason is I have presentation one with multiple slides linked to
excel. I have added the add-on to update links when the presentation
loops but that only updates my slides that contain linked data. The
slides that are hand written do not have a link.

I created a second presentation (2) with a linked object to
presentation one. That way the second presentation looks at the first
and displays the slides based on the current revision. It works great
but the linked presentation (1) is than locked for editing while the
second presentation is running. I want to be able to edit the first
presentation (1) so I do not have to stop the slide show to do updates.
Does anyone know a trick to keeping presentation 1 from locking when
linked to presentation 2?

The presentation is on a continous loop and updated hourly. I was
hoping to develop a method to update without stopping the show.
Remember not all slides in the presentation are linked to another
source such as excel.

Thanks
