How to unlock the a document

I am trying to create a word document, but not reacting to any of te\he keys.
It gives the following message on the status "This command is not available
because the document is locked for editing." My question is how do i unlock
the document.

If this is happening with just one document, it may be protected (try Tools
| Unprotect Document). If it's happening with all documents (and you can't
create new ones), either you have failed to activate Word or it's a trial
version that has expired.
