how to unlock a locked section?

Opening a document I can not type, highlight or do anything to the document.
This occurs when I try to open any document in office word 2007. I need to
now how to unlock so I can edit my document
 
You appear to either have a version of Word that is not activated or a trial
that has now expired.

I just downloaded the trial version yesterday. I entered the product number
but it is still locked. Paul
