How To Uninstall Win2K and other questions

1).I have a really old laptop that I want to install win 98 instead of win2k
because I have some older software that is not compatable with win2k. Long
story short, got impatient and installed the wrong operating system. I
cannot install from command prompt, it would let me and it has been a very
long time, I don't remember how to go to the DOS prompt. Can someone please
help me.

2) I kept getting a "suspend-to-disk" error prompt but the computer boots
up, want is this file and what is it used for.

3) I was thinking of formating the hard drive again, but I went through the
command prompt, it prompt that all data would be lost (OK) but then it
indicated that handlers in use with the current HD would be lost. Does this
mean the drive is not usable anymore. I back out as soon as saw that, I have
never manually formatted a HD only in the distant past, just floppies.

To wipe the drive, some ways include; boot a win98/ME startup disk, run
fdisk and delete all partition information found (as long as NTFS is
primary). Or boot the Windows 2000 CD-Rom or setup disks and when you get to
the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions found, then
abort the install. Or use a utility named delpart. Once removed you can boot
the Win98/ME CD-Rom or restore CD-Rom to start your install. Make sure you
have win9x device drivers available before hand.

Where do you find the utility named delpart? and do you know anthing about

2.) Probably standby mode. Tell us the exact text of the error, when you're
getting it. Also check Event Viewer for errors.

I downloaded and I get a 16 bit DOS error and it will not let me open, an
resolution to this problem.
