how to turn off cached exchange mode and "openmsgstore failed" error

Hello,

My PDA synch software no longer works - when it tries to access my outlook
pst file I get the message "openmsgstore failed".

After lots of googling, I suspect that this is because "cached exchange
mode" is switched on. This was switched on when my former employer asked me
to set up microsoft exchange on my home computer. Now I have been made
redundant and so I have removed the exchange email account. This means that
I cannot access the exchange account settings to switch off cached exchange
mode.

I have tried detect and repair feature in Outlook. I have tried deleting and
rebuilding my profile and importing all the old data. But still no solution.
Any suggestions?

When you have removed the Exchange account you don't need to worry about the
Cached Exchange setting anymore. Make sure that your PDA software is
configured to synch with the correct mailprofile and that the right folders
are selected to synch with.

Thanks - perhaps I have been googling up the wrong tree.
