I recently took over a new company and they have two copies of server 2000.
One copy is an upgrade and the other one is Backoffice 2000. How can I tell
which one is installed on which server?

thx

Right-click 'MY COMPUTER', select PROPERTIES (left-click once) & look at the
top of the GENERAL tab

or click START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM INFORMATION & it
will show up there

This answer doesn't tell you the version, it only tells you which server os,
sp, and build. Thomas, did you ever find out how, because I need to know the
same answer?

Thanks

Do what I said before to get the version number up. This will give you the
Windows version

if it starts with:

5.0 = Windows 2000
5.1 = Windows XP
5.2 = Windows Server 2003

or is it the 'Back Office' version you want?

Thank you, but the question isn't the windows version, it's the server
version. How do you know what version of server 2000 you are running?
Standard vs. Advanced vs. Enterprise, etc?

Thanks

Try one of these:

1) Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, click
Computer Management, right-click Computer Management (Local), and then click
Properties.
2) Right-click My Computer on the desktop, and then click Properties.
3) Right-click Start, click Explore, and then click About Windows on the
Help menu.
4) Click Start, click Run, type winmsd, and then press ENTER.
5) Click Start, click Run, type winver, and then press ENTER.
