I used the google trick to get around the blockpage here at work. That page
is close, but I'm looking for a registry hack or something like that. I want
Word to revert to the default printer and settings after every print job.
It should, as Word uses the Windows default printer at Startup. Depending on
Word version, if you leave Outlook open, there may still be an instance of
Word running.
There is no registry hack to allow this. The only ways to reset the printer
to default are by vba (as shown on my web page) or by shutting down all
running instances of Word as mentioned by Suzanne.
The vba method on my web page can be used to intercept the fileprint and
fileprint default commands (by naming the routines with the in-built command
names) which would achieve the same ends, but the simplest method is to add
a printer toolbar to print the document (with or without the print dialog)
to your choice of printer.
