how to stop Word recognising a date; and changing it?

How to I stop Word from recognising a date and offering its own format with
the words "press enter to insert". If you don't spot this in time and press
enter to go down a line, you get a "double" date.

Is this Word 2007? You can do the following to turn off AutoComplete
suggestions: Display the Visual Basic Editor by pressing Alt+F11. Press
Ctrl+G, which activates the Immediate window. Type

Application.DisplayAutoCompleteTips = False

and press Enter.
