How to stop Outlook searching for pop server when sending emails?

I have Outlook 2003 and XP and no problems with internet access or with
receiving emails. The connection settings are correct according to ISP
Orange and also Cisco whose router gives me broadband access.

The issue is that when I send an email, it fails and there is an error
message saying that 'access to the pop.orangehome.co.uk server is
interrupted'. This is odd as the outgoing server is listed as
smtp.orangehome.co.uk.

Help please! Many thanks

How many different email accounts do you have setup? Check the
configuration of all of them.

Hi, thanks. I have now checked the configuration of the two email accounts I
have set up and the outgoing server in each case is smtp.orangehome.co.uk.
Right at the moment I am now able to send emails out after all but I have
been prone to intermittent disconnection with the outgoing server and
believe it could happen again.

Sometimes it helps to click on the More Settings button, and go to the
Outgoing Server tab, and select "my outgoing server requires
authentication" using the same settings as the incoming mail server.
This eliminates blocking of sent mail due to diallowed relaying.
Works for me, give itr a try.

Hi. I have checked the configuration of the two email accounts I have set up
and to the best of my knowledge they look correct, namely:

One is - incoming pop.orangehome.co.uk (POP 3 110)
outgoing smtp.orangehome.co.uk (SMTP 25)

The other is - incoming mail.empworks.co.uk (POP3 110)
outgoing smtp.orangehome.co.uk (SMTP 25)

When sending email, try clicking on Tools -> (point to Send/Receive) Click
on the specific account you want to use.

You might also test the "Send All" option. This should avoid having the
system check for incoming before sending. If the Send All option works you
can use the Custom option to put a Send All button on your tool bar for
convenience.

I don't understand this. What does using Outlook have to do with sending mail
from a web site?

My outlook downloads my messages from my web site always have but now when i
try to reply to a customer I keep getting the send error message's never had
this problem before when I was with BT.

Unfortunatley my web designer is away for 3 weeks but I cant put work off
for three weeks, Ive read other forums saying change the port from 25 to
another one but no-one has said whjat port number to change to

Are you talking about a form that a user on your web site fills out to send
email? If so, and there has been a change in your mail service provider,
that change needs to be made on your website form, or in whatever program
your host uses to send the mail. Contact your host.

And the exact text of the error is?

Yes they fill in a drop down box from the site so basically it's the web
