How to stop getting multiple emails from the same person and same.

PLEASE ANYONE HEEEELLLLPPP!!!!
How can I stop getting multiple emails from the same person regarding the
same emails? For example, I get at least 2000 emails a day and now when I
download them to Microsoft Outlook it says that I have 4000 emails when
actually I could only have 3000 because I am not only getting duplicates of
each email but sometimes triplicates, quadruplicates or 5 of the exact same
emails... So how can I STOP this from continuing because it takes to long to
read my emails now I am falling way behind because of this and I can't get
anything else done due to my time limit... PLEASE HELP ME SOMEHOW!!!!

What version of Outlook do you have? What sort of mail account(s)?

Hi Jeff,
I forgot to tell you what mail accounts? If I understand you correctly my
ISP is Comcast and I have 4 email accounts running on a cable modem... The
main ones that duplicate or more is from yahoo but there are private emails
that duplicate also if this isn't what you mean let me know more because I
really didn't understand this question.... I just use my Microsoft Outlook
Professional 2003 version with my four accounts... That is all I know what
you mean!!!

Some more questions:

1) Do you only get multiple copies from certain people, or do you get
multiple copies of all your mail?
2) You said in your initial post that Outlook says that it is downloading,
for example, 4000 messages but there are only 3000 distinct messages. Is
it the case that in a single download you end up getting duplicate copies
of some messages?

Hi Jeff,
No I get copies of all emails duplicate, triplicate and even up to 5 times
and it is from everyone the private ones I usually only get two of the same
emails the group lists I get more duplicates sometime 4 of the same email...
I also want to say NO it isn't from the same person in 4 different groups of
mine... It is the same email from the same person and group list.... That is
why I say it says 4000 and is only 3000 depending on how many copies of one
certain email I get... I hope this helps more!!!!

Oh Jeff I forgot to tell you YES it is in one single download and now I am
getting emails that I have already deleted I am getting them back again... I
have run multiple virus scans and nothing has shown up and if this doesn't
stop I will reformat my hard drive after backing everything up cause I can't
stand having to delete and delete so many emails and then when I do and I
download the next time I get some of the ones I just deleted the day before
it is getting ridiculous!!!

If you're getting duplicates within a single download, there is nothing
that you can do within Outlook to correct it. Getting duplicate messages
within a single download means that there are multiple copies of the
message on the server, and Outlook will download every message from the
server. Reformatting/reinstalling will not affect this.
