How to stop AutoNumber

On conversion from Access 97 to Access 2000, my tables now
have the autonumber ability, even though the field design
datatype is number. Does anyone know how I can stop this?

Sorry, Michelle.

Someone at Microsoft thought they were being helpful by trying to find
patterns when filling in the rows in a table or datasheet. As you
understand, this kind of behaviour has no place in a relational database,
but they did not provide any way to turn it off.

Would it be possible for you to give your users Continuous forms instead of
Datasheets?
