How to Stop Auto-Expanding Folders?

In Windows Explorer, if you hover the mouse over a folder in the folder
pane, that folder will automatically expand. I find this feature very
annoying. Is there any way to turn it off?

That is not default behavior, is TweakUI installed or something like
that? I would take a look in some "3rd party" settings for your mouse to
turn this off.

Bob,

No, I'm pretty sure it's default behavior -- I just explained it badly. I
should have mentioned that it only happens when you are dragging something.
For instance, if you drag a file over an unexpanded folder in the folder
pane, then wait a second, that folder will expand. It's not a bad feature,
but it has caused me to miss my destination folder many times, so I'd prefer
to turn it off.

I'm pretty sure that's normal. It's that way so you can drag things deep
down into the folders.

Yes, described that way, it is normal. Sorry, I don't know how to
"break" that feature. I personally don't use Windows Explorer as I find
it a bit annoying. I prefer to work with "My Computer" and multiple
folders/windows.

there's another file browser that you can use, the old File Manager
[winfile.exe] from W3.1, Its not included with W2K, I know there's still a
copy of it inW98, W95 and NT and it runs in W2K. It make the "file types"
more easily programmable.[that's how I found it]. It might be more to your
liking as well.
