how to stop a footnote being distributed over three pages

My problem:
I inserted a footnote on one page, and the text of the footnote starts on
the next page and ends on following page. The footnote is only two lines
long! I've looked amongst the settings for footnotes but I can't find
anything which will tell Word not to do this.
