How to speedup up a legacy Toshiba 4010 Win98 laptop

Is it worth it to install REACTOS on it?
Chrome won't run because it is W98.

If it makes the USB more generic (ie not only with driver) I would consider
some Linux install, exp one with emacs.

I've tried Reactos and it's *totally* unusable

Your best bet might be to use Linux

I recommend SliTaz

as with any OS, the more RAM the better

how much ram does your machine have?

Dunno, need to check

But (aside) slitaz sounds like linpus which came with another laptop - really fast,
but limited upgradability (eg, r, octave, maxima, emacs..
I got the complete redhat disk set, but there
was a problem with the repomd.xml that was widely reported.. then I played
with uqantian/knoppix/debian.. my problem is I haven't seen enough
people while they are actually insalling unix to get the feel)
