Hi there,

I've got a Dell Latitude laptop with a fresh installation of Windows XP
SP2. I'm also using Office 2003.

Every time I receive an email or get a popup window alert (i.e. an
information alert, or a wireless network found alert), it is
accompanies with a 'system beep.'

This 'beep' is not from speakers like Windows sounds as when I mute the
speakers, I still hear it.

Can anyone tell me how I can turn of these system beeps/alerts please
as they're quite annoying, particular when I'm getting tens of emails
each day.

Thanks,

Se

Start > Settings > Control Panel > click the "Sounds and Audio Devices"
icon. Select the "Sounds" tab. This property page allows you to configure
the "Program Events" sounds or disable them.

In Outlook Express did you try tools-- options--remove X from play sound
when mail arrives?

Sorry if this is a double post, my first reply seems to have disappeared
and does not show in my Sent items.

Try Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Sounds. In the pull down menu
under Sound scheme, select No Sounds and Apply.
