how to set the save filename from text in the edited document and

Hi,
I am not running a mail merge.
- I have a word doc template
- using sharepoint, I have a webpart (Doc Library) and the 'new document'
item points to the template
- it's used by 6 people.
The template prompts for the user's name & function and embeds that in to
the title.
It is this unique title I now want to use to save the file. That is... click
save and it sets the filename to this title.
Problem is, doc properties title (in the template) is populated with the
first line of the doc, even if I clear it and set the template to read only -
so I always end up with the same title.
thanks

hi, i may be missing something here, but you are using the 'SAVE AS'
feature/command, correct?

You should be able to save the file to any name you wish (extension names
limited, of course)

Hi Don,
I want to automate the save process (for some users - have to make this
idiot proof) but not simply take the filename from the doc properties data.
I need to force cosistent naming convention.
The problem is... the properties data of the template is populated with the
firstline of the document and if you now hit save, this then becomes the
filename used.
Additionally, the filename field now stays the same everytime you use that
template.
I've set readonly permissions on the template but it makes no difference.
