I want to highlight a sentence and delete it by pressing the space bar. What
do I have to set to do that?

What are you actually trying to accomplish?

Using the spacebar doesn't *delete* the selected content, it *replaces* the
selection with a space. If you simply want to delete the selection use the
Delete or Backspace key. If you want to replace with other content just
start typing after selecting - there's no need to delete.
