How to save my preferences?

I recently bought a new laptop. I installed Windows XP Professional on
it.

The problem is that I prefer the classic theme, my own wall paper, and
webshots for my screen saver.

I have selected them and it all looks like I want it, but about every
other time I boot it up, it reverts back to the Windows XP theme, the
default wall paper, and Windows XP screen saver.

How do I get it to remember my preferences?
 
Hello BillKi,

I wonder if this system happens to have either Windows Defender (beta) or Windows Live OneCare (beta)?
I'm seeing this behavior on one of my systems that does have Windows Live OneCare.
