I have a client that uses lots of macros. When they create a new user
profile in XP the macros don't carry over to the new user file. Is there a
way to get the macros and Auto text settings to carry over to a new user
profile on the computer.

Thanks

Keith

Both macros and autotext are stored in templates. If you didn't choose
another template, they'll be in Normal.dot. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm. Back up the stuff
mentioned there in a profile that works, and then restore it in the new
profile.

Macros and AutoText are stored by default in normal.dot. This is not
necessarily the best place to keep them. I keep mine in separate global
templates. See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for
step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up
customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments,
toolbars, macros, etc.
