How to save a Word doc to a cd in something OTHER than read-only?

I've tried several times to save a Word.doc to a CD and it comes up read-only
so I can't work on it . The read-only flag is grayed out. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!!

CDs are intended for archiving info only.

Do Not try to use them for working purposes. Always save to you hard drive,
copy to a CD if necessary, copy back to a hard drive for editing.

Take a moment search the newsgroup for myriad explanations from reliable
sources if you want more detail.

CDs are read-only. Copy it back to your hard disk if you need to make a new

By design, CDs are read only -- even RW CDs. You should never be working
with a file on a CD directly from Word. You should copy the document to your
hard drive, remove the read-only attribute if necessary, and work on it from
your hard drive. Then copy it back to the CD in Windows.

If you want to be able to use your documents, when working within Word, act
as if your floppy drive does not exist! (This applies to CDRW/CDR drives as
well.)
Don't use Word to:
Open a document on a floppy
Print a document on a floppy
Edit a document on a floppy
Save a document to a floppy (not even a copy)

Word regularly trashes documents on floppy drives!

Instead, work on the document using your hard drive. Copy it back and forth
using Windows.
